Abstract
This paper examines the trends and dimensions of religious violence in Nigeria with emphasis on the
lynching of Deborah Yakubu, a Christian and 200 level student of Home Economics Department at the Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto, Nigeria, by some of her classmates for alleged blasphemy. The incidence drew a lot of critical questions regarding the constitutional supremacy and corporeality of the Nigerian state. It also reinforced the persistence of the national question in the country.
