EFFECTS OF NEAR SUBSURFACE STRUCTURES IN POST LINEAR STUDIES: A CASE STUDY OF SOME EXISTING ROADS IN EKPOMA, THE ADMINISTRATIVE HEADQUARTERS OF ESAN-WEST LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF EDO STATE.
AMADASUN, C. V. O., ODEH, A. I. AND USIFO, A. G.

ABSTRACT
Shallow 2-D Post-linear studies of the Electrical resistivity and induced Polarization imaging were conducted on three existing roads of approximately 100m, 60m and 60m profiles respectively, in Ekpoma, initiated with a short protocol (DIPDIP4S): 2-Channel Dipole-dipole array CVES with 2 electrode cables, otherwise called the Dipole-dipole configuration, to produce models of the subsurface revealing horizontal and vertical geological variations as precipitators…

SPATIAL DISTRIBUTION AND CHEMICAL FRACTIONATION OF SOME HEAVY METALS IN CRUDE OIL SPILL SOIL.
OLUBODUN, S. O. AND ERIYAMREMU, G. E.

ABSTRACT
Soil contamination by heavy metals is consequently the most critical environmental problems as it poses significant impacts to human health and the ecosystem. The heavy metals may infiltrate deep into the layer of underground waters and pollute the groundwater and the surface water or are washed into nearby rivers and may pose great risk to the surrounding environment as a source of drinking water. This study was carried out to investigate the spatial distribution and chemical fractionation of some heavy metals in crude oil spill soil. An ex-situ experiment was…

PERFORMANCE AND CARCASS CHARACTERISTICS OF BROILER CHICKENS FED LOW PROTEIN DIETS CONTAINING HYDROLYZED FEATHER MEAL, WITH OR WITHOUT PROTEASE SUPPLEMENTATION.
AJAYI, H. I. AND AKOMA, O. C.

ABSTRACT
In a 2x2x3 factorial arrangement, two hundred and forty day-old broiler chicks were allocated randomly into eight treatment diets. There were two levels of hydrolyzed feather meal (HFM) 0 and 2%, two levels of protease 0g/kg and 5g/kg and three levels of crude protein 23%, 17.4% and 15.5%. There were ten birds in a replicate and three replicates per treatment diet. Birds were fed with treatment diets for 42 days. The feed intake (FI, g/bird), body weight gain (BWG, g/bird), carcass weights as percentage of live
were assessed at 42 days. The feed conversion ratio was calculated from the feed intake and the body weight gain. At the end of the experiment birds on dietary treatment 4 had better BWG (1115.3g/bird) than birds fed the control dietary treatment 1, (1077.7g/bird) though not a significant improvement at p=0.05. Treatment 4 produced a lower FI (1280g/bird) compared with birds fed the…

DETERMINATION OF THE LENGTH – WEIGHT RELATIONSHIPS AND CONDITION OF TWO FISHES, Ctenopoma peterici AND Oreochromis niloticus FROM A TRANSECT OF IKPOBA RIVER, BENIN CITY, NIGERIA.
OMATSULI, M. O., AJAYI, H. I. AND OBASOHAN, E. E.

ABSTRACT
This investigation analyzed the length-weight relationships of two important food fishes (Ctenopoma peterici and Oreochromis niloticus) from Ikpoba River, Benin City, Nigeria to determine their growth pattern and their condition. The fish samples were sourced from fishermen landings on the river. For each fish sample, length (L) and weight (W) were measured using standard methods. The statistical relationship between these parameters of the fishes was established by using the parabolic equation: W=aLb
while the condition factor was determined using K = 100(W/L3)…

COMPARATIVE PHYTOCHEMICAL AND IN VITRO ANTIOXIDANT ANALYSIS OF SOME INDIGENOUS PLANTS.
OKUNGBOWA, A. I., OKUGBO, O. T. AND EZEKIEL-HART, O. W.

ABSTRACT
This study was carried out to determine and compare the phytochemical and antioxidant activities of Allium fistulosum, Bryophyllum pinnatum, Cymbopogon citratus and Heinsia crinita. The leaves were washed, dried and powdered. The powdered leaves were macerated in methanol for forty-eight hours (48hrs) after which the filtrate obtained was concentrated in an oven at 40oC. The methanol extract of the leaves, were then screened for phytochemicals. Antioxidant activities of the leaf extracts were ascertained using the ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP) method…

WAVELET SELECTION BASED ON WAVELET TRANSFORM FOR OPTIMUM NOISY SIGNAL PROCESSING.
ISABONA, J. AND OJUH. O. D.

ABSTRACT
Wavelets transforms (WT), are distinctive set of orthonormal basis functions specially formed for filtering and trend prediction of signal data. One key advantage of WT tool is that it possesses the capacity to cater for both temporal and spectral representation of signal components, simultaneously. However, a key challenge in exploring WT for optimal signal processing is in its ability to determine the right threshold value, which facilitate in the estimation noise level from a noising signal or data. If the….

INVESTIGATION OF IMPACT OF THE USE OF INJECTION WELL ON GROUNDWATER, USING GEOELECTRICAL APPROACH, ALONG BOUNDARY ROAD, BENIN CITY, NIGERIA.
OKANIGBUAN, P. N. ALILE, O. M.

ABSTRACT
Geoelectrical imaging of the subsurface to investigate the impact of flood injection on groundwater contaminants in a typical flood area in Benin City, Nigeria was carried out. The 2 – Dimensional electrical resistivity survey method for the subsurface imaging was done by engaging the Wenner array configuration using Petrozenith terrameter in the surface measurement. The vertical electrical sounding (VES) was also done by using the Schlumberger array configuaration to determine the depth to the aquifer layer. The DIPRO software and the RES2DINV software were used for…

A COMPARISON BETWEEN FOUR SOFTWARE PROCESS MODELS.
IYAWE, G. O., AKHIDENO, I. A AND IGBINIGIE, P-C.

ABSTRACT
Over the years, developers have encountered some challenges with software development. Software researchers have been able to develop process models that cater to the different types of software application and if followed correctly can result in software that are delivered on-time, cost effective and conform to user’s needs. Knowing the right process model to use in software development can posed a challenge for software developers. This research deals with Software Development Process and briefly describes…
